Reconstruction Zone!

Well, now that I’ve test-driven wordpress.com for a few weeks, it is time for me to move my domain here. Right now, when you go to tianevitt.com, you are redirected to this WordPress blog. When I’m done, tianevitt.com will work again.

While I am unhappy at losing my plugins, the default WordPress behavior seems to give me everything I need. The only thing I don’t like is that this theme, which is otherwise wonderful with great sidebar features, puts the comments link at the top of the post when you are at the blog page. I have observed that this set-up decreases post comments. If you can’t immediately find the comment link, why bother to look? I’ve done it myself.

So I’ll reluctantly be looking for another theme as well. But only after I get this domain set up.

So bear with me please, while all this construction is going on.

11 Thoughts to “Reconstruction Zone!”

  1. Experimenting with leaving comments. I think I like this theme very much!

  2. I don’t see any trouble with the comments. If it’s not the most convenient location, it’s a common enough location you really ought to check there before giving up. {Smile}

    1. It just may be something that I am particularly picky about. I can have a perfectly wonderful theme, but the comment link location will kill it for me if I can’t have it where I want it. Oh, well; I’m glad to have found this theme.

    This may be personal to me, but I like having the comments link at the bottom of the post. That way if I have something to say when I finish reading the post, I can easily hit the link and say it.

    1. Exactly my preference!

    2. I think I prefer it at the end of the post, too. Still, I think at the end of the comments to the post isn’t too bad as an alternative. It’s the first place I look if I don’t find it at the end of the post proper. {Smile}

      The truth is, I’ve seen a lot worse. One friend had a style where you had scroll back to the beginning because both of her links were up at the top. Yes, there were two, one in the menu-like row, and on in her sidebar on the right in the first grouping. So neither were at the end, where people should be if they’ve bothered to actually read the post. Having to scroll back to the beginning to say anything was annoying! {wry smile}

  4. I think we can cope 🙂

    Hmmm…I thought I left a comment, but I don’t see it now.

    1. Deb, the first time you leave a comment here, it moderates you. It is catching a lot of spam this way. I’ll see if I can modify the page you see afterward, so you know where the heck your comment went.

  6. How confusing. My original post complained about the link at the bottom when I meant to complain it being at the top. Post edited to reflect my intended thought. Plus, my theme now has the comments where I like it. Eyeroll.

    1. Oh. I thought you were complaining about it being at the very end, instead of beteween the post and the comments. To me, both of those locations are reasonably convenient. Complaining about it being at the beginning makes more sense. I did that myself. {wink, Smile}

      I’m glad you have working to your satisfaction now. That’s better. {SMILE}
