NaNoWriMo – Who's With Me?

(I started to write this as my usual 3-in-one Sunday afternoon post–in fact, I already wrote all three topics–but I decided that was stupid and I will post each topic separately.)

Yes, I am going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year! With caveats.

I’ve been told that a novella writer should be able to write a 15,000 word novella in a month, and so I am going to try. Yes, I know that the *official* NaNoWriMo goal is 50,000 words, but I’d have to neglect my family to be able to attain that goal, and I know you wouldn’t want me to do that.

I think 500 words a day is highly attainable. And the discipline of having to write every day will be good for me. I have a very full life (my cup truly runneth over) and I can’t complain at all except that at the end of the day, I am sometimes too wiped out too write. My blood pressure meds are partially to blame, so it’s kind of a vicious cycle. I have a cup of tea in the evening to counteract the sleepies, but I can’t drink too much because caffeine can adversely affect blood pressure.

I’m going to try to figure out some widget that will enable me to put my status up here on the sidebar somewhere. I’m sure one exists.

Not sure what can be done with it, but here’s my NaNoWriMo profile.

Who else is in? Maybe I’ll make a sidebar of NaNoWriMo buddies.

I had originally been thinking I might do it, since I’m starting a new novel. But I got unexpected revisions for my current Llewellyn book, and it is looking like I might not be ready after all.

    Either way–YOU GO, GIRL!

Thank you. I do believe I shall!

I hope you have fun with it! I’ve never tried Nano. I can’t this year, either. I’m re-writing an old work from scratch, trying to get it all perfect so I can eventually send it out into the world, and that means typing at the speed of cold molassas.

Been there, done that! I hope you had better luck with old mms than I did. Although really, I’ve only trunked the first. The others I still won’t give up on.

        Thanks. 🙂

I’m in! I can’t stop myself from signing up every year. It’s just too fun! This year I’m trying for a novella-length work too, but it’s going to be a MG fantasy. I’m @saanen on the NaNoWriMo site. Good luck to all of us!

      Awesome! I’ll look you up!

  4. I haven’t decided yet. I tried to do NaNo last year, then had to quit because of my family situation, and I ended up finishing the book in February. It’s the first of a series, so I’m considering writing the second book for this year. But I’ll have to really make some progress on my Hex revision in the next few days if I’m going to let myself have a month of for NaNo.

I’m the same way with my fairy tale. Plus I only have the vaguest outline for the BATB story. Let me know if you are in!

Hmm, Nano… Every year it’s seemed like I was in the middle of something already when November rolled around, but this year I’m not. And I’ve been very, very unproductive lately. Maybe I could use a kickstart. I’ll have to think about this.

The timing worked out for me this year, too. Well, maybe. I hoped to be done with this book first. I still have the weekend …
