A PSA, a Promise, and an Announcement

I have spent the last 10 11 days sicker than I have ever been. It started with what I thought was a cold, but which seemed to go straight to my lungs. I guess it was phenomena. I have never had any sort of lung aliment before. I never want to have one again. Given a choice, I would not want a lung ailment to be the way I go. In fact, I feel so strongly about this that I have a public service announcement on the subject.

Tia’s PSA

Because I care.

If you smoke, find a way to quit.
Somehow.
You do not want a lung disease.
Trust me.

So what did I do while I was sick? As little as possible. I tried to work, but my boss sent me home, and told me she expected I would be out the rest of the week. And I was. I read 2 Georgette Heyer novels, and another novel that I’ll tell you about in a minute. I played lots of Ultima 5, some Ultima 6, and a teeny bit of Ultima 7. I dreamed up plots. I watched the first 7 episodes of Once Upon a Time, a TV series, until the tangled plot started to boggle my oxygen-deprived mind. I surfed news. I hacked out mucus.

Sorry about that last tidbit. Just trying to drive home the point of my PSA. When you are not wheezing for air, you are hacking out mucus. When, of course, you have the strength to cough. Sleep? Maybe for a 2 hour stretch. What a horrible way to die this must be.

Subject change!

Hot damn! I just wrote my first book review since May! Believe it or not, I really have missed blogging, and the online friends I have found here. Neither Twitter nor Facebook quite cut it for me (and that’s the subject of an upcoming post). I have decided to start with one post a week–surely I can manage that–on Sunday. If I have a second post–as I do for this week–that will be on Wednesday. I believe I tried to commit to a Sunday-Wednesday schedule before, so let’s just stick with Sunday for now, unless I get a wild hair. As I did this week.

I must be getting better.

I will leave you with a blurb. The cover copy for my next fairy tale, that is! I snuck it onto the front page of my site a few days ago, when you weren’t looking.

BTW, the title is THE MAGIC MIRROR AND THE SEVENTH DWARF.

Prince Richard is cursed. He is enslaved to the magic mirror, and must truthfully answer the evil Queen when she uses the mirror to call on  him. To keep from betraying innocents, Richard wanders the countryside and avoids people.

Gretchen has been teased all her life for being small. When she hears a tale of a hidden farm full of little people like her, she sets out to find it – and is welcomed by the mostly male inhabitants. One in particular, Lars, woos her with his gentle kindness and quiet strength.

But danger looms when Gretchen meets a runaway Princess and offers her shelter at the Little Farm. Wandering nearby, Richard instantly falls in love with the young beauty, and is compelled to tell the queen that she is NOT the fairest of them all. Enraged, the queen vows to find the Farm and destroy it.

If either Gretchen or Richard are to have any hope of a happy ending, they must team up to break the mirror’s spell before the Queen kills them all…

Personally, I loved it. So much better than my query letter!

Blog Fixed!

I fixed a problem on my blog that involved direct linking to a blog post. Who knows how long it has been a problem, but I did wonder at the low number of comments. Now I know to always test changes to my site on a browser that I am not logged into as the site administrator.

Ugh! Now to rebuild my readership!
